Pearl Harbor 65 Anniversary/ SELP PORTRAIT-1
Photographer Rich T. Slattery, inside a World War II Fighter the P-51D Mustang, as it takes part in the American Airforce Association's, "Pearl Harbor 65th Anniversary Commemorative Ceremony" which included 65 Roses being dropped over the Statue of Liberty in lower New York City Harbor. The roses were blessed with sacred water speacially shipped in from the surrounding waters around the USS Arizona, which was sunk during the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. This horrific act forced the United States officially into World War II. Planes took off and the ceremony took place at the American Airpower Museum, Farmingdale, NY.
